Blocking scene 5 analysis
Blocking scene 5 . In scene 5 the Witch after her transformation finds Rapunzel and begs her to come back home with her but Rapunzel refuses and stays with the prince. At first we blocked the staging of this scene and we had a little difficulty with where to stand to give the audience the best view. I helped Ashley on keep his shoulder to the audience so he could be seen and he wouldn't be blocking Kim. It wasn't a big problem and after a while we all got the hang of where to stand for the best effect. In this scene tension is built between the witch and the prince . Although she is livid at Rapunzel because she doesn't want to return home , the prince is really the one standing in the witches way.So i had to build tension . First the witch was compassionate towards Rapunzel but soon becomes inpatient and throws a spell at the couple. The spell doesn't work and the witch is humiliated. She breaks her wand and struts off . At first i portrayed an impatient body language by gesturing my hands with urgency and making my dialogue short and snappy almost in disbelief. Then when then spell didn't work i would screamed in a tantrum and broke the cane, glaring at the audience to make one last imposing effect.
